2 1/2 sticks softened butter
1 ½ cups powdered sugar
1 1/4 cups almond flour
1 egg
3 cups all-purpose flour
Vanilla
Pinch of salt
3 tsps shaved Gianduja Chocolate
Question: What is Gianduja Chocolate?
A: Gianduja is chocolate, most often Milk, that is made with a Hazelnut Paste. This chocolate tends to be very soft, so keep it cold before shaving. If you don't have this chocolate handy, substitute with any other chocolate and if you like, add finely chopped, toasted Hazelnuts.
Question: How you shave chocolate?
A: A vegetable peeler works best! For small shave pieces, use the chocolate cold or at room temperature. For larger curls, rub the piece of chocolate with the palm of your hand and use more pressue as you 'peel' the curls away!
1) Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
2) Add the eggs, followed by the salt and vanilla and mix until well combined.
3) Add almond and all-purpose flours and mix until just combined.
4) Shape into a flat square, wrap tightly in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
5) Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough to a 1/4" thickness. Cut into squares and place on a parchment-paper lined cookie sheet.
6) Bake at 350 until slightly golden on the edges. Let cool to room temperature. |
